Sociedad Deportiva Huesca shared out the spoils against Real Sporting Gijón at El Alcoraz in LaLiga SmartBank matchday 39. In a clash with neither side dominating proceedings and few bright moments in attack, the Oscenses took the lead by Florian Miguel right after the break. The visitors, however, fought back at the latter stages by means of Pedro Díaz.

The encounter saw a slow-paced start to the game, with rare opportunities for either side. It was an even match where Spoting tried to avoid relegation trouble. It wasn’t until the 28th that we saw a clear-cut chance. It was an individual play managed by Florian Miguel, assisted by Marc Mateu from the wing. Our no.21 provided an inch-perfect cross at the near post for Dani Escriche, who came from behind and headed to the far post, just some inches wide. Before the interval, the referee turned down Escriche’s appeals for handball.

The second half offered more, with two teams determined to open the scoring. El Alcoraz rose as one, to deafening applause with SD Huesca early goal with 50 minutes gone. Marc Mateu took a corner and Florian Miguel headed into the net. A set-piece proved to be decisive for the Altoaragoneses once again, who had some more fruitful opportunities by means of corners and free-kicks in a more open game than ever. After the goal, Xisco made his first substitution bringing on Joaquín and then Mikel Rico, Gaich, Pablo Martínez and Lombardo. The clash seemed to be under control and Mikel and Joaquín had some chances to double the advantage. However, after 83 minutes, Pedro Díaz picked the ball up on the edge of the area and powered a rocket past Andrés Fernández to equalise. Huesca looked to bounce back and searched for the winner until the end, but the final whistle eventually blew on a draw.
