El Alcoraz saw off a tough season. It ended with the satisfaction of having achieved the goal but with the inevitable sadness of saying goodbye to some of our protagonists. With the comfort of having completed our tasks, without any scoreboard obligations or the need to look at other fields, against a Levante side whose only aim was to add the last three points. Therefore, the aspiration was to end on a high note in front of a crowd that ended up appreciating the great effort of the players over the previous 41 matches.
El Alcoraz saw a high-paced start to the game, with the hosts creating several clear-cut chances, including a shot by Joaquin that went high in the 12th. However, the clearest opportunities fell to Iker Kortajarena, who first encountered Femenias and then missed the target on a subsequent attempt. While Levante’s goalkeeper maintained the draw during that period, it was then Juan Perez who donned the gloves to send two shots from the visitors over the crossbar.
Inevitably, the pace slowed as the minutes went by. In the second half, when Hidalgo made substitutions – bringing on Obeng, Elady, and Javi Martinez – they also had the opportunity to bid farewell to El Alcoraz. But with the tasks already completed on both sides, the end was more a time for ovations than for clear chances, with the substitution of debutant Juan, giving way to Alvaro, who became a centenarian in his final goodbye to the Azulgranas’ crowd.
