Sociedad Deportiva Huesca fell short against CD Leganés at Butarque Stadium in a game where the Azulgranas took the lead but CD Leganés came back by means of a brace by Cissé in LaLiga SmartBank matchday 38 (2-1). The Altoaragoneses suffer then their first defeat in almost a couple of months – the last one had been the 13 March in Alcorcón –, putting an end to our best run of results of the season. Now it’s time to think of the clash against Real Sporting.

We saw an intense start to the game, with both sides carving out good opportunities in the south of Madrid. Andrés Fernández was early called into action by the Pepineros Arnáiz and Shibasaki. Nonetheless, Florian Miguel could have put us up after a cross from Joaquín, and both Escriche and Seoane steadied Huesca nerves with two terrific finishes. Garcés and Arnáiz provided some of the brightest moments in attack for the hosts, getting forward down the wings. In the 24th Florian Miguel tucked a header, but Jiménez produced a stunning save. 34 minutes into the game, SD Huesca scored the opener. It was a good individual play managed by Gerard Valentín, who brilliantly led and finished off a counter-attack that started just inside our own half. The Azulgranas grew into the game by dominating proceedings and attacking cleverly. Before the interval, Leganés saw an effort from Nyom ruled out for offside. When it seemed that Huesca would go up to the break, a set-piece levelled matters, as Cissé found the net in the 45th.

It was an even start to the second half, with Xisco’s men trying to restore that elusive lead. The Majorcan opted for a double substitution, bringing on Poveda and Pablo Martínez to replace Joaquín and Seoane. One of the highlights of the clash came with 57 minutes on the clock, when the referee pointed to the spot for a foul on Escriche, but it was finally ruled out for an offside in the build-up. Right after that, Nafti’s side had the final say, with a screaming set piece to grab their second goal, again by means of Cissé. 2-1. Gaich came on up top for Escriche, trying to push hard for a leveller, and substitute Mikel Rico was fresh legs for the midfield. However, the pace of the game was slowed down, and Lega coped well with the Azulgranas’ attacks in the latter stages, when even Ferreiro entered the pitch to pile on the pressure. Even though the Oscenses tried hard, the goal could not eventually be found.
