SD HUESCA CLAIMS ONE POINT AFTER AN EVEN MATCH AGAINST FUENLABRADA

The Azulgranas drew in El Alcoraz (0-0) after a match with few chances that ended with Gaich sent off in the closing minutes

Sociedad Deportiva Huesca earned one point in El Alcoraz after a match against CF Fuenlabrada in matchday 6 of LaLiga SmartBank (0-0), in a tough match with few goal chances that ended with one less man on the pitch following Gaich’s red card. The three-game losing streak came to an end, but the Azulgranas could not achieve the necessary victory they have been pursuing since matchday 3. There will be another option next Friday so that the Altoaragoneses try and find that win unachieved against a chewy Fuenlabrada.

It was a decent start from SD Huesca, with the crowd responding to that and Ambriz altering the first XI with five new faces. In addition to Pulido’s return after his suspension, Mikel Rico, Nwakali, Ratiu and Pitta up top were new in the first line up. On the pitch, the team was pressing and willing since the very beginning, having initiative against a rocky rival with very close lines. The first half went by with hardly any scoring opportunities, as it was a cagey match of few chances. By the first fifteen minutes a goal for Fuenlabrada was justly disallowed for offside before Salvador’s shot went into the net. Ferreiro, one of the most active players in the first half, starred a stunning individual performance in the 25th minute, dribbling from the centre line and serving a dangerous kick that rubbed Atube’s post. 30 minutes had gone by when the visitors summoned up the clearest chance: it was a medium-distance free-kick shot by Pedro León, which bounced in front of Andrés Fernández. The keeper produced a top save to tip away. With no more chances before the half-time, Oltra’s side seemed to be getting better as the time went by.

The second half did not change, as even as the first one and with no clear chances. However, Pitta did enjoy a good one in the first minutes, shooting inside the area after Escriche’s pass. His curved ball did not find the goal. Konaté and Pol Valentín tried Andrés later, proving that the Madrilenians measured intelligently when they could attack and find their advantage and when it was better to wait back. Gaich replaced Mikel Rico to freshen up the attack while it was clear that just an abrupt change or an individual action could lead to the victory for either one of the teams. 10 minutes before the full-time, Gaich received the second yellow card (the first one following a riot) during an aerial challenge, and Huesca played with one fewer man until the end. Andrés intervened successfully twice again to avoid a visitor’s goal that would have been fatal. Mosquera had the latter option of the afternoon, heading a ball by Marc Mateu, although he was not lucky. The point felt like too little for a SD Huesca that will keep fighting.
