Fifteen poor minutes to pay a high price. SD Huesca paid dearly for their defensive mistakes in the opening stages at La Romareda, which put the hosts 2-0 up after 15 minutes. It was too much for the Azulgranas, who were unable to come back and Zaragoza pounced to make it 3-0 from the spot, rounding off the game onslaught to send the fans wild.
This was definitely not in SD Huesca’s plans. Just after 3 minutes from the start, the Altoaragoneses were one-nil down, and Zaragoza would double the advantage only after 15 minutes. Ziganda’s men had gifted a number of opportunities to be punished at a hostile La Romareda. However, they tried to put up a fight, and the first chance for SD Huesca was a header from Escriche in the box. Villarrasa took a nice corner and then powered a low cross-cum-shot from the side, making an outstretched Rebollo got a light touch to the ball. Zaragoza, though, remained dangerous on the counter-attack, especially in the final minutes of the first 45, which ended with the score 2-0.
The second half began with a free-kick floating over the top of the Zaragoza defence. Dani Escriche couldn’t connect with the ball, which went out for a goal kick instead. Ziganda made a double substitution, bringing on Joaquín and Cristian Salvador. The injury of the referee led then to a lengthy break that left both sides cold. After that, Zaragoza scored once again, but it was ruled offside. However, a penalty was awarded to the hosts following a handball, and Vada stepped up to crash it home to finally make it 3-0.
