SD Huesca were held to a 0-0 draw against a stubborn UD Las Palmas side in Saturday afternoon's LaLiga SmartBank clash (matchday 30) at El Alcoraz. The opening minutes were even and dominated by high-paced football from both sides, but the second 45 saw slow-paced game overall, without either side producing any real clear-cut chances. Although the hosts proved to be more dangerous, the score did not change.

The clash began with SD Huesca pushing hard, with energetic pressing in the opposition's half and a very promising moment for Xisco’s side. It was Pablo Martínez who received a clever through-ball into the space and fired a shot, but the ball only found the side-netting. The Oscenses made a stronger start to the game, but the islanders fired back with a handful of chances from their front three: Jesé, Viera and Mújica. The latter enjoyed the first effort for the visitors, but was denied by Andrés Fernández. In the 26th came the closest attempt of the first 45: Marc Mateu curled in a precise cross from the left wing and an unmarked Darío Poveda failed to trouble the keeper however, firing his header wide of the mark. Jesé Rodríguez threatened the hosts’ area in the closing minutes of a tight first half.

SD Huesca continued taking the initiative after the interval, but the rival grew into the game. Lago Junior and Joaquín replaced Seoane and Marc Mateu in the 60th. However, the encounter had entered a very slow-paced stage with no team being able to carve out good chances. Everyone at El Alcoraz had the feeling that the team that broke the deadlock in those final minutes – either Xisco’s men or García Pimienta’s side – would secure the three points. Mikel Rico and Ferreiro came off the bench too, as Huesca’s search for the opener continued in the closing minutes. In the 87th, the referee could have pointed to the spot, when a Canarian player handled the ball inside their own penalty area following a cross from Valentín, but he eventually did not. Soon after, our no.1 pulled off a strong save, denying Sadiku. Joaquín and Darío Poveda found space to launch a counter-attack in the last minute, but they could not threaten the rival’s goal seriously, which led to a goalless draw.
