SD Huesca fell short at Santo Domingo in a tough game for the Oscenses, where Borja Valle stepped up to make the vital breakthrough in the 70th in LaLiga SmartBank matchday 31 (1-0). It was not the best day for the Altoaragoneses, who tried hard without success against a combative bottom side. Now it’s time to think of our home encounter against Burgos.

We saw a hard-fought start to the game, Alcorcón were intense and approached frequently Andrés’s goal. However, after a first attempt of Mula, Huesca had a superb chance. In the 17th, Escriche passed it to Gerard Valentín on the right, who dragged a low shot wide of Chus Ruiz’s goal. Right after that, the Oscenses enjoyed the most promising moment of the first 45: Escriche found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and distributed the ball to his right. Unfortunately, his pass did not reach Poveda, missing out a brilliant opportunity to put the visitors ahead. Ignasi was forced into leaving the pitch due to physical issues in the 26th, being substituted by Pulido. Alcorcón did not seem to be intimidated, and piled up a persistent pressure. Mula took a free-kick, which meant the first shot on target for the hosts. At the interval, they seemed to be closer to opening the scoring.

The second half brought a triple half-time substitution in Xisco’s side, bringing on Mosquera, Marc Mateu and Pablo Martínez for Timor, Escriche and Joaquín. SD Huesca improved a little, although we saw fewer threats from both sides in the second 45. In the 68th, Seoane touched the ball inside the box for Pablo Martínez, who flicked it to the opposite side of the box to find Marc Mateu. Our no.23 drilled a low shot that went wide, very close to the outside of the post. Despite the better efforts from the visitors, the next move of the Madrilenians was a setback for the Azulgranas. Borja Valle headed in a 70th minute winner following a cross from the left: 1-0. The Azulgranas were left with an uphill battle to get something out of the game against Alcorcón resolute opponents, who were trying to secure the three points. Calero could even double the advantage before the final whistle, but his shot went wide. Huesca counter-attacked by means of a run on the right wing by Valentín that nobody in a Huesca shirt could finish off.
