NACHO AMBRIZ: “WE’RE ALL AWARE OF WHAT’S AT STAKE”

“It’s a special match. Our position in the table or our shape are unimportant tomorrow – a derby is about passion,” stated SD Huesca manager

SD Huesca awaits an important encounter in Zaragoza next Monday, not only because of the need to get a positive result but also due to the rival’s entity and what a derby means to the fans of both clubs. “It’s a special match. Our position in the table or our shape are unimportant tomorrow – a derby is about passion, there are no excuses,” stated SD Huesca manager. “We’re all aware of what’s at stake, it’s a derby and we need to be up to the game,” he added.

The manager has all the squad available, except for Ratiu, who has been called up by Romania. “The team have practised very well this week. We know that it will be a tough game, but this sort of clashes changes your mindset. Cristian and Ferreiro are back, they’re training with the team and that proves that we all want to be there, it’s a game we all want to play. Every player wants to contribute in an encounter full of rivalry,” he assured.

When asked about the rival, Ambriz said: “Real Zaragoza get forward easily, they have players who can solve any match. It’s not their best moment, but it’s undoubtedly a great team. We have to play plenty of spirit, intensity and character. We must have the nerve to impose our personality. Results may lead us to hesitate sometimes, but we need to know when we can and cannot play our game.”

La Romareda is expected to be almost full this Monday, and Ambriz knows that many people will be supporting. “We haven’t played away as well as we would have wanted, we need a positive result and this makes us play very intensely. We’ll defend SD Huesca colours, our fans, our club, we need to live this game. The fact that people are back at the stadiums should motivate us, it’s good to feel the pressure in the stands – it gives life to the players. However, that pressure should stay on the pitch, never on the streets. The fans must understand that it is just a sport’s intense rivalry.”
