Ratiu’s golden header after 93 minutes secured a point for the Altoaragoneses, now unbeaten in six successive matches. It’s a valuable draw for Cuco’s side, who struggled at Anduva, but held their options until the stoppage time. Also, thanks to Andrés Fernández, whodenied every rival’s chance during their best minutes. Cuco Ziganda had already warned about the potential of this young Mirandés, in need of points, and who were playing in front of their crowd. Indeed, it became evident since the first minutes, when they felt more comfortable on the ball, even in a windy afternoon like this.
The first opportunity of the match fell to the hosts in the 17th, but Andrés saved the header from the 6-yard box. The Oscenses reacted by playing in the opposition’s half, with Cristian Salvador driving the ball through the entire midfield and Gerard Valentín running down the wing. The opening stages of the first 45 saw neither side causing many uneasy moments for goalkeepers. However, on the stroke of the half-hour mark, Andrés was called into action following a counter-attack, which he blocked for a corner. Mirandés enjoyed a handful of promising moments then, but headed into the tunnel at half-time with the score 0-0.
During the second half, the visitors grew into the game. SD Huesca created danger, especially with a shot by Juan Carlos Real after he connected the ball inside the box. Gerard Valentín saw his goal ruled out for a marginal offside after 58 minutes. From then on, the Oscenses gained possession, but were unable to make the most of it, Mirandés being dangerous in front of Andrés’s goal. The hosts found the prize with a shot from Salinas past Andrés (1-0). Ziganda made a triple substitution, introducing Kanté, Tomeo and Escriche, the latter only recently recovered from injury. In some end-to-end minutes, already in second-half stoppage time came the miraculous goal under the heavy rain of Anduva: Andrei Ratiu leaped up to meet a cross from Marc Mateu for a euphoric celebration – You could tell by all the Azulgranas’ faces.
