With just a three-day rest before the clash, Ziganda’s men travel to Ponferrada to play LaLiga SmartBank Matchday 14. Now they’ve got the confidence boost of the last home victory, but they know that it’s not going to be easy at all. “The best training for the upcoming encounter was last Saturday’s win – that’s the best vitamin. We have little time to recover, but we are willing to produce a performance,” stated the boss.

In a week with several games, Ziganda explained that “changes are normal,” which has indeed been a regular so far. “When the players in the same position are so similar, I like making changes. All the players are making the most of it, and this had led to respectful and healthy competition. At the same time, it’s very productive, so rotations have become very positive for the team.

When asked about the rival, he answered: “Every game is different, it’s little details that decide each of them. We always face very even matches. ‘Ponfe’ are struggling, they’ve just suffered a painful defeat. Nevertheless, we cannot lose focus, it’s a fresh start every time the referee blows his whistle. We have to be ready for anything.” And Cuco added: “Ponferradina play very well and always try to control the game from defence, by means of good combinations.”

The boss doesn’t want to hear about the long term. Instead, he lives day by day: “The first objective is to win on Tuesday and, then, on Saturday. The target is crystal clear for the club, and the team go step by step, putting the best version of ourselves out and transferring our ideas on to the field,” he concluded.
