Cuco Ziganda: “We are happy to play at home again”

“Playing in front of a packed house at El Alcoraz helps us in the most difficult times. We’ll try and play a good game in front of a tough rival,” says the manager

The Azulgranas have had little time to recover, as this Friday they take on Real Sporting at El Alcoraz. After two away games, the boss declares to be willing to meet our fans again. “Considering our figures at home, we’re happy to be back and we’d like to play a good game. We’re ambitious, we want to get all three points and feel our crowd’s support.”

About the rival, he believes that they’re “a brave side”. “They play at a high pace and energetically. Hence, their figures in attack. They may be struggling in defence, as they’ve conceded quite a few goals, but their manager knows them all very well, so he’s able to make the most of his squad. I expect a frantic fixture, given the fact that they attack very well, but we’ll have to remain solid, as we’ve done so far.” And ‘Cuco’ added: “The side that prove to be able to dominate their strengths will have more chances.”

Besides, the Oscenses will have their fans behind them. “We appreciate their support, which provides fuel in the tough moments. We can feel the difference between our home and away games, but it’s up to us whether to change that dynamic.”

The boss is hopeful some players can recover from injury in time after having been ruled out of the previous games. “Having all our players fit for Friday gives us more chances and develops a healthy competition within the squad that makes everyone do their best – that’s positive for everybody. Therefore, it’s obvious that it’s important to have those that haven’t made the squad lately,he explained.

Ziganda would like to keep El Alcoraz a fortress. “We’re regular and consistent, we sometimes find it hard to create promising moments and break through the opposition’s backline, but we’re rock solid in defence,” he concluded. “Results generally make us lose perspective.”
