Ziganda: “I’m working to get the best out of my players”

SD Huesca manager is clear about the steps to be taken: “We shouldn’t just look at the result – we must focus on what we have to do and then we’ll find a route to victory”

SD Huesca will fight for the first victory of the season this Friday against Albacete Balompié. Cuco Ziganda praised our rival, who haven’t lost in the two previous clashes of the season: “It’s a very regular side who follow his manager’s ideas. They’ve taken control of their games thanks to their attacking impetus.” Although they have been recently promoted to LaLiga SmartBank, the coach is aware that the opponent is a determined side: “They know what they’re doing and they feel a very good vibe around them,” he commented.

It’s been a short week, since Ziganda’s side are playing away from home on Friday again, so ‘Cuco’ has adapted to the needs of his squad: “We’ve planned the week differently. We don’t have as much time to prepare this encounter as the previous one, so we’ve worked with weights, considering the minutes enjoyed by each player. We just meet our needs and don’t want to find excuses – we’re completely focused on this game,” he stated.

The manager has also told us about his new striker, José Ángel Carrillo: “He’s perfectly adapted to the group, but our idea is for him to continue training well – his teammates have trained 50 days more already. We wouldn’t want him injured,” he said. After this new signing, Ziganda has multiple options up top: “We’ve got various strikers. We’ll see how they fit in and the results they produce. The idea is to start with two forwards but we’ll test different formations – I keep an open mind,” he added.

Anyway, ‘Cuco’ is clear about the steps to be taken, individually as well as collectively: “I’m working to get the best out of my players. We need to prove ourselves solid and improve in defence,” he concluded.
