Spain Under-21s will play at El Alcoraz

The stadium of Huesca will hold the game of the national under-21 football team against Norway (27 September)

El Alcoraz will host an international game for the second time in history. Norway U21s will travel to Huesca away from home in the Europe Cup and the match will be played on Tuesday 27 September (time TBD).

In June 2003, Huesca held the Spain national under-21 football team for the Olympics and the Europe Cup qualifiers. The Spaniards ran out as 2-0 winners against Greece in front of a 3,000-strong home crowd.

This time, the team comes back to a refurbished El Alcoraz, whose capacity has been increased “in line with an encounter of this nature,” stated Mr Manuel Torres, President of SD Huesca. “It is our pleasure to open up our home to a national team. It’s also a boost to the city and the whole province. It’s something special for our fans, too, as they will be able to enjoy our young players with talent,” he added.

Huesca’s Mayor, Mr Luis Felipe, pointed out that this game in Huesca is “great news – and not only for sports. This international fixture will make an impact on the image of the city, which will be linked to a strong economic activity, especially in the fields of hospitality and commerce.”

Finally, Ms Elisa Sancho, CEO of TuHuesca and Vice-president of the Province of Huesca, considers it a wonderful opportunity to promote tourism in the province beyond football, due to the impact of Spain U21s on young people, too.”
