SD Huesca put in a courageous performance and took the lead in Ipurua, but failed to win a game that was in their hands for almost half an hour. The Azulgranas saw Eibar steal their points from them in two efforts in the latter stages of the game. Stoichkov netted a brace in a match where the final score polluted a number of very good minutes from Xisco’s side, who are already thinking of following that pace in the next clash, next time with a more positive result.

The Oscenses’ starting line-up included some brand-new faces. Timor and Pablo Martínez made their debut and Jorge Pulido started as well – those were the three different players from the last game at El Alcoraz. Willing to improve the result back then, Xisco Muñoz had warned that the team would be “bold and brave” at Ipurua, even playing against LaLiga SmartBank leaders. After some minutes where Eibar were stronger in front of their home crowd, the encounter became tighter. However, the first opportunity of the match fell to Xisco’s men by means of a header by Timor, stopped by the keeper before the 10th. The first 45 ended even and having seen few chances.

The scoring was opened after the break by means of Seoane. The SD Huesca leading scorer found the net with a header after a sloppy ball following a powerful shot from the left by Florian that had been pawed away by goalkeeper. The Azulgranas took the lead with 40 minutes to go.

After the goal, the game livened up, but il also became weird, as it was continuously interrupted. Xisco made a couple of changes when the locals started having more chances, and played the strikers Poveda and Lago Junior. The latter was about to make it two with a powerful long-range rocket that hit the woodwork after it ricocheted off a defender.

Eibar did not miss their chance some minutes later, in the 75th, and levelled matters with a cross from the right flank to the far post, from where Stoichkov poked the ball in the net. 15 minutes ahead and a new match opened for both sides. Xisco’s men cooled it down and enjoyed more regular attacks, but Eibar proved to be clinical and Stoichkov netted his second goal. Huesca tried until the end: Darío Poveda had a promising moment right before the injury time and Andrei headed in front of the goalkeeper before the final whistle, but were unable to find the goal.
