Sociedad Deportiva Huesca rescued a point by means of a last-gasp equaliser in a tough away game against SD Ponferradina, in matchday 14 of LaLiga SmartBank (1-1). In an even clash where Marc Mateu was sent off in the 67th, it seemed to take its toll on the result eventually, following Espiau’s opener only a few minutes later. SD Huesca decided not to give up then. Andrés’s saves kept it 1-0 and Xisco’s side got the prize in the injury time, when a penalty was awarded following a foul on Mikel Rico. Seoane took it and found the net to pick up one point before the team head back home.

The first half was absolutely even in El Toralín: one shot on target by each team, similar penalty-area entries and the feeling of a hard-fought showpiece. The hosts were the first to open fire by means of a dangerous shot of Enrich from inside the box, brilliantly palmed away by Andrés Fernández. Nwakali fought back soon, hitting the ball from the edge of the area on several occasions – the first one had to be pawed away by goalkeeper Amir. The clearest chance of the first 45 was a poisonous cross from the left by Seoane that ran past very close to Pitta and Ratiu. It was the 21st. After the half-hour mark, the greatest opportunity arrived when Marc Mateu took a free-kick that went slightly over the crossbar, while Andrés Fernández was not busy at all.

After the interval Xisco made a triple substitution, bringing on Escriche, Rico and Ferreiro for Ratiu, Pitta and Nwakali. Huesca grew more and more in the game as the minutes went by. When Xisco’s team were at their best, Marc Mateu was sent off due to an unfortunate play when he hit Adot with his leg in the 67th. He was initially booked by the referee but the official was asked to review the challenge on the pitchside monitor and changed his decision to a red card. In the 70th Yuri scored a goal, but it was ruled out for offside. Soon after that, Yuri himself headed the ball again, but it left over the crossbar. Although SD Ponferradina took some side crosses to press the Altoaragoneses, we were not intimidated and kept on fighting. However, the local goal come with almost the last kick: Edu Espiau headed the ball, which hit the post and found the Azulgranas’ net.

The encounter seemed to be ready for judgment, even more after Ponferradina faced with a one-on-one situation, but Andrés pulled off a miraculous save to keep it out. The equaliser would arrive just a little later, in the 95th, when Mikel Rico won a challenge and was kicked by a rival player. This led to the penalty Seoane would take, scoring the final 1-1.
