SD HUESCA CLAIM ONE POINT VS SD AMOREBIETA

The Oscenses could only get a draw in Xisco’s debut match by means of two own goals (1-1)

Sociedad Deportiva Huesca could only claim one point against SD Amorebieta in El Alcoraz on Xisco’s debut (1-1). It was matchday 13 of LaLiga SmartBank. The Azulgranas watched helplessly as the rival tied the game 12 minutes from the end. The Majorcan will continue to work to achieve positive results for SD Huesca.

Huesca tried to get off to a good start under manager Xisco and threatened the rival goal with up to four changes in the starting XI from Burgos. Ferreiro was fit again after an injury and was back in the first line-up, together with Jaime Seoane, Mikel Rico and Adolfo Gaich. The Azulgrana’s opener was an early one following an unlucky move of SD Amorebieta: Luengo turned the ball into his own net and over Saizar to make it 1-0 after the defenders got in each other's way as they attempted to mop up danger. VAR checked that all players were onside in the build-up. The goal did not unblock the clash, as it went on with continuous interruptions and few chances. Ferreiro volley wide on the box and Mikel Rico low shot were the highlights of a dull first half.

The encounter did not take a sharp turn after the restart, although Huesca could actually net a second goal in the 55th: Ferreiro dribbled twice and took it to the back post, where Pulido and then Cristian were really close to push it into the net. As the minutes went by SD Amorebieta grew into the game, especially by means of corners. Xisco decided to make a triple substitution then: Buffarini, Juan Carlos and Escriche. However, right before the substitutions the away side scored after a corner. Following a cross Mateu hit the ball with his toes and unfortunately the ball went into his own net. The Oscenses sought the victory but the final chances – Cristian Salvador’s shot from inside the box had to be saved by the keeper – were not enough and SD Huesca had to be happy with one point in order to keep growing.
