SD Huesca celebrate at El Alcoraz again

The Azulgranas secure an important home victory thanks to Obeng’s scissor kick to extend our unbeaten home run to twelve matches

There was just one option in the Azulgranas’ minds: picking up all three points at El Alcoraz. And SD Huesca edged Mirandés to find an impressive victory through Obeng, who grabbed a vital goal in his debut. Just six days after he joined Ziganda’s men, the striker deposited a brilliant low finish past the keeper with an acrobatic scissor kick, and the crowd erupted when it bounced into the net.

A Huesca side in need of a triumph could be cheating, as it could be motivating or put the team under pressure. However, the Altoaragoneses came out there trying to have the initiative. Joaquín tested the rival after five minutes with an individual play but the defence repelled the danger when he tried to cross the ball inside the Mirandés area. The visitors reacted by winning metres back and calling the Azulgrana defence into action. The debutant Obeng was close to break the deadlock just before the half-hour mark, when he fired a low cross-cum-shot from the left that almost hit the post. After that, only an outstretched Andrés denied Mirandés to keep the scores at 0-0 before the break.

After the interval, SD Huesca grew into the game. A powerful shot from Cristian Salvador went wide and some minutes later, Joaquín launched a counter-attack, but the defence were able to prevent him from turning it into a more promising moment. Cuco Ziganda made a triple substitution then, bringing on the debutant Javi Martínez, together with Timor and Gerard Valentín to replace Juan Carlos Real, Kento and Carrillo. Mirandés took advantage of the new scenery to make Andrés work, and they even had time to hit the crossbar. But Ziganda’s ideas started to work out by means of Javi Martínez and Gerard Valentín, the latter powering a shot from inside the area, only eventually denied by the keeper, who also miraculously prevented Joaquín from catching the rebound. Anyway, the Oscenses had to score a goal by all means, and it came just as in the previous clash – with a scissor kick. The debutant Obeng jumped acrobatically to smash the ball and find the net. Ziganda’s men went on controlling the ball and gaining possession until the end to secure a vital three points, one more home win and turning El Alcoraz into a fortress where the Azulgranas haven’t lost for twelve successive games.
