El Molinon would provide SD Huesca with a point. Ziganda’s side broke the deadlock, a golden advantage in this competition where a goal is a real treasure. It came from a free-kick but only after 15 minutes, Sporting levelled matters by the exact same means. The Altoaragoneses are still struggling to get that long-awaited domestic triumph. For them now, it is about preparing for the next home game again.

Oscar Sielva’s powerful free-kick found the net to put the visitors ahead only after 20 minutes at El Molinon. The midfielder started this afternoon for Ziganda’s side to try and get all three points. Joaquin was close to double the advantage five minutes later, when he won the ball back in the midfield, drove it down the wing and, instead of shooting, crossed it for Kanté, who was very close to finish off. The Oscenses missed their chances and let Sporting react, by means of Pol Valentin, who was denied only by an outstretched Andres. However, after 34 minutes a free-kick from the edge of the area allowed Pedro Diaz to cancel out SD Huesca’s opener. The Azulgranas hurt badly after the leveller, and saw the hosts win yards on them until the break.

After the interval, the dynamics stayed the same, with Sporting pushing hard in the opening stages to pile up the goal attempts in a flurry that saw Cristo find the net in the 55th, but he had it ruled out for offside. Huesca’s boss sought to halt any Sporting momentum from the bench, by introducing two of the new signings, Samuel Obeng and Javi Martínez, and then Gerard Valentin and Kento Hashimoto. The Azulgranas managed to do so, but weren’t accurate in attack in front of Cuellar’s goal. Both sides looked set to earn a hard-fought point from a tight game, only for a late breakaway to seal the Oscenses’ fate, when they were reduced to ten men as Ruben Pulido was sent off for collecting two yellow cards five minutes from time, so they had to grit their teeth until the end, with 7 minutes added on, but eventually earned a valuable point after what we saw during the encounter.
