SD Huesca trailed in LaLiga SmartBank last encounter against Real Valladolid, in a game without goals before the break. Our powerful rival were fighting to earn direct promotion to LaLiga SmartBank and would eventually secure it (3-0). Goals by Weissman, Plata and Aguado shaped the scoring. Now it’s time for the Azulgranas to rest and think about next season.
The Altoaragoneses started the clash with a shot on target: a dangerous direct free-kick taken by starter Pablo Martínez. The hosts, however, urgently needed to light their fire. Huesca remained rock-solid though, repelling all the entries from the rival until the interval. Adolfo Gaich could have put Huesca up in the injury time, powering a shot from the edge of the area, and Weissman answered back with a header that hit the post. At the break, the match remained goalless.
The second half brought bad news for the Oscenses, as Real Valladolid took an early lead by means of Weissman after 49 minutes, following a lengthy VAR goal-check for a potential offside. Soon after, Plata doubled the advantage. By then, Xisco had introduced Juan Carlos for Florian Miguel. After the 2-0, Lago Junior replaced Gaich. The minutes went by and the pace of the game slowed down. Ferreiro and the youngster Pol Prats came on for Marc Mateu and Pablo Martínez with more than 20 minutes remaining, trying to peg back the opponent. However, the third goal came from Aguado following a collective play in the 78th. Euse Monzó made his first-team debut in the latter stages of an encounter that was locked at 3-0. Finally, SD Huesca wave goodbye to the 2021/22 campaign looking towards the future.
