Ángel Martín González signs up as sporting director of SD Huesca
The club pick the 58-year-old Madrilenian to become the sporting responsible for the next three seasons

Ángel Martín González (Madrid, 1964)has been appointed SD Huesca’s new sporting director. Martín González has built up a substantial expertise in various Primera and Segunda División clubs, so he disposes of an in-depth knowledge of Spanish football and a successful working methodology, proved over the last 25 years of his career.
The Madrilenian, sporting director of Getafe CF from 2019 until just about a month ago, began his youth career at Real Madrid. After that, he switched to CA Osasuna, where he spent nine successful seasons in LaLiga. Before he retired in 1997, he signed for Rayo Vallecano, spending two more seasons in Spain’s top-tier competition. Then, he went back to Pamplona as an assistant manager for managers Lotina and Javier Aguirre. Ángel Martín González later became the club’s director of football, and the team achieved promotion to Primera División in 2000. In 2005, they got to the Copa del Rey final and in 2006/2007 they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, one of the greatest achievements in their history. His next destination was Real Zaragoza, as the director of football from 2014 and 2016, when the team played a promotion play-off. Finally, he would sign for Getafe. In his first campaign as a sporting director, the Madrilenian side competed in UEFA Europa League, falling in the round of 16 against AC Milan, and finished 8th in LaLiga Santander. At Getafe, a team who are settled in Primera División, he has come up to scratch.
