A. Calle: “We’ll be looking to avenge our home defeat last match”

The SD Huesca assistant manager spoke to reporters ahead of SD Huesca’s LaLiga SmartBank match against Cartagena: “It’s a very combative rival”

Antonio Calle, SD Huesca’s assistant manager, replaced Xisco Muñoz at the press conference ahead of SD Huesca’s LaLiga SmartBank match against Cartagena, as the head coach had tested positive for COVID-19. “We know that it is going to be a hard-fought game, but we are hopeful and looking to avenge our home defeat in the last fixture of the campaign, when we could have sealed a victory,” he started saying. He also pointed out that a triumph against Cartagena this weekend would make the team “confident and very strong in mind.”

Besides, Calle mentioned the rival, Cartagena, who are in pretty good shape. “I believe that this is one of the best moments of the season for them. Actually, their last Copa del Rey clash against Valencia was brilliant. We know they have quality players. It is definitely going to be a demanding and keenly contested encounter,” added Calle.

Although several Azulgrana players will be ruled out of the fixture, our assistant manager is optimistic about the chances his side will have to play a good role: “The crowd in that stadium always push their team, so it's got the makings of a great game. We are willing to get all three points. Some players are set to miss out on the fixture, but we are very excited about this one. There are some players who haven’t participated much in the previous matches, but who are eager to have a good performance. We fully trust them.”

He also declared that his side need to improve efficiency. “The other day we produced great moments, but we gave up those chances. That may be what we are lacking in, but we are sure that we will overcome that hurdle,” he stated from his own experience as a striker. “The only possible formula is to work and be ambitious to try and score the most in the practice sessions. Our forwards have scored and I’m sure they will.”
