Xisco: “We’ll be met with a hurdle, but we must make a strong start”

SD Huesca manager talks about a “tough game”, but points out that the team learnt from their mistakes at Alcorcón

If there is anything clear for SD Huesca players, it is that there is no place for relaxation this weekend, when the team visit Fuenlabrada (Sunday, kick-off 14:00 CEST). Different players have insisted on that matter during the week, and so has Xisco earlier today, when he has addressed the media ahead of his side’s clash. “It’ll be a tough one, because we must know how to approach this type of encounters. We need to make a strong start to the game, as we know that our rival has picked up 21 out 29 possible points at home. They’re rock-solid, strong and it won’t be easy,” added the Majorcan at the beginning of the press conference held at the media centre in El Alcoraz.

The disappointing defeat to Alcorcón in a match under similar circumstances is the starting point for the Azulgranas not to repeat their mistakes this time. “We must learn from our mistakes in Alcorcón, and face this game as we did against Almería. I’m sure it’ll be a keenly contested game. We’ll be met with a monumental hurdle, but we need to dominate possession, put in a solid performance, try and play in rival field and finish off our chances,” he insisted.

David Timor is unavailable for the clash due to the one-match suspension he must serve, but the boss is confident that he’ll be able to replace him, even if the midfielder has started in the last fixtures. “I have so many different dependable alternatives for that position. Fortunately, we rely on a big and competitive squad.”

Finally, SD Huesca’s manager talked about the women’s football encounter that will be held at El Alcoraz later today: “It’s such a beautiful thing, people’s support is hugely important. It’s so thrilling to see a crowded stadium to watch women’s football. These initiatives make the club, and it’s exciting not only for those who are new but also for those who have been here all along. That feeling will never be forgotten.”
