SD Huesca records a superb victory at La Rosaleda

The Azulgranas triumphed over Málaga CF (0-2) with second-half goals from Marc Mateu and Seoane

SD Huesca secures a second successive victory and records one more successive clean sheet. A remarkable achievement for the Oscenses in Malaga. Goals from Marc Mateu and Seoane, both assisted by Escriche, gave the Azulgranas a brilliant away triumph over a strong rival to breed confidence and keep composure before our home game against Almería.

At a tough stadium to go to, La Rosaleda, Xisco’s side came out fighting with a new start: Gerard Valentín on the right wing. Both teams had the same thought in mind – to battle for a win at the most decisive stage of the competition. It was eventually SD Huesca who succeeded in the quest to claim an important three points.

Ignasi Miquel enjoyed the clearest opportunity of the first minutes, but his shot following a corner went wide. A long-range effort from Pablo Martínez didn’t force the Malaga keeper either. These two attempts came before the interval, and were the most dangerous of the first 45, more as a result of a lack of success than a consequence of the performance put in. The hosts approached Andrés’s box at the closing stages, but were unable to carve out good chances.

Escriche and Joaquín came on as half-time changes. SD Huesca took the lead as early as the first minute after the break. Malaga keeper failed to save a routine shot by Escriche, who made the most of the rebound and had time to brilliantly cross it back for Marc Mateu, who scooped it into the net to make it 0-1. Ten minutes later, Escriche assisted once again: this time Seoane, who hammered in Huesca’s second goal.

Although Escriche could have made it 0-3 by finishing off a ball from the right wing, Malaga didn’t give up. SD Huesca looked to play on the counter attack at every opportunity in order to seal the victory by making it three. However, the minutes went by and the pressure from the home crowd predicted the Azulgranas’ win. Finally, Lago Junior and Mikel Rico came on and proved to be committed to further strengthen the team with some more chances.
