SD Huesca Genuine enjoy football and big reunions again

The Azulgranas, together with 23 more teams, were thrilled to bits in Gran Canaria, as they got back into the competition in LaLiga Genuine Santander 21/22

SD Huesca Genuine enjoyed a great weekend of football in Gran Canaria, starting the fourth edition of LaLiga Genuine Santander. David Abardía’s side were extremely excited when they rejoined UD Las Palmas’ training camp to play three encounters, in a weekend of reunion for the 24 teams that met in the first of the three fixtures that will shape the 2021/2022 season. After the opening, on Friday in Barranco Seco, the Azulgranas played their first game against Fundación Club Atlético de Madrid on Saturday, then Fundación Málaga CF and finally on Sunday Sevilla FC, all of them in the Team Spirit group.

LaLiga estimates that more than 500 male and female players and members of the coaching staffs were involved in this event, which is a huge success for the organisation. A series of unforgettable moments were experienced: members of different teams hugging, respect among teammates, for referees, coaches, goals… and a lot of emotions from each and every participant in this new edition of the most genuine football competition. Once again, LaLiga Genuine Santander stressed the importance of the purest values in football, where the most important thing is ‘sharing rather competing’, as the motto reads. The second round of the competition will be split in two: Malaga, 13-15 May, and Cadiz, 20-22 May.

This tournament, created by LaLiga Foundation, is the first league in the world made of people with intellectual disabilities. On its fourth edition, it will comprise 42 teams, after Fundació Barça, SD Ponferradina, CF Fuenlabrada, Burgos CF, FC Cartagena and UD Ibiza were included. In the particular case of SD Huesca, our squad is composed by players who take part in the following associations:  Valentia, Down Huesca, Asociación Asperger and TGD’s Aragón, Cruz Blanca and El Remós social integration centre, all of them coordinated by Cadis Huesca and supported by Alcoraz Foundation, who launched the initiative to create the team.
