Sociedad Deportiva Huesca picked up one more point in El Alcoraz after two consecutive defeats, but could not beat Malaga CF in matchday 11 of LaLiga SmartBank (0-0). The Oscenses slotted up to three shots past Malaga goalkeeper Dani Martín only for them to hit goal post, whereas Malaga CF smashed Andrés’s post once, following an encounter full of alternatives in which either team could have won. However, SD Huesca were better than the rival on the whole.

The hosts made a fast-paced start to the match by dominating Malaga and being direct, willing to score the opener as soon as possible. After several minutes, a number of approaches could be counted whereas the rival, having lost the ball possession, did not feel comfortable and relied on quick counterattacks by means of their forwards, Brandon and Gassama. Joaquín’s lob, in the 6th, meant one of the clearest opportunities after an error from goalkeeper Dani Martín, who could only look on as our 11’s delicate chip deflected off the post. It was Brandon who fought back soon, pouncing on a tentative clearance from goalkeeper Andrés Fernández, who eventually managed to snatch the ball from his feet. Escriche, in the 27th, had another excellent opportunity after finding himself one-on-one with the rival goalkeeper, but the striker missed his shot sending the ball slightly wide. The Azulgranas dominated proceedings, but Malaga were growing, especially thanks to dangerous set-pieces. Joaquín was unlucky, picking up an injury and being obliged to leave the pitch in the closing minutes. He was replaced by Enzo Lombardo. The rivals kept growing in the dying stages before the half time.

After the restart Lombán scared all Huesca fans with a header that smashed onto Andrés’s post, who saved the later rebound shot by Genaro. Lombardo replied to this opportunity with a kick that found the side netting after some fantastic build-up by Buffarini and Escriche. Just before the hour-mark, Ambriz made a triple substitution, when Ratiu, Mosquera and Gaich came in, replacing Escriche, Miguel and Mikel Rico. An outstretched Andrés had to save Escassi’s free-kick, dodging the 0-1 while the match was more balanced than ever, with both sides struggling to create scoring opportunities within a muddled game. Malaga’s goal check by the VAR made everyone’s blood run cold in El Alcoraz, but Peybernes was finally ruled offside and the goal was luckily disallowed, as it would have been fatal. Mateu took a side free-kick directly yet unsuccessfully to the goal, and it remained goalless… even if Malaga had one last chance following a corner. Burgos, next stop of an SD Huesca trying to grow and grow.
