Farewell for Miguel Ángel Zaborras, much more than our no.1 member

Our number one member, Azulgrana manager during El Alcoraz construction works and member of the Spanish Olympic Committee, passes away after 89 years of love for the club

“Whenever the club has been in need, we have known what SD Huesca meant for him. A great sufferer, the club has been almost everything for my dad.” That is how his son, Miguel Ángel Jr., points out the love that Miguel Ángel Zaborras felt for the Oscense institution. Our number one member has passed away this Tuesday at the age of 89, after a life devoted to sport as well as to the club where he has not only been one of the most renowned members but also a manager in the 1960’s and the 1970’s during the construction works of El Alcoraz under José María Mur’s chairmanship.

Mr Zaborras was, among others, chairman of the Spanish Federation of Fishing during 16 years and member of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE). In 2006, he received the Bronze Medal of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit. Fishing and football have been his two greatest passions. “I’ve grown up going to San Jorge to see Huesca with him. Even last week, when he was in the hospital, he wanted to watch the match on TV,” tells us Miguel Ángel Jr.

The thoughts of everyone at SD Huesca are with Miguel Ángel’s family and friends at this sad time.

Rest in peace, Miguel Ángel.
