The point was useless for either of the two teams, as the relegation battle is getting tighter and tighter. But after having led for 70 minutes, the share of the spoils between SD Huesca and Villarreal B felt bitter especially for the Azulgranas. Accompanied by more than a hundred fans, they made a strong start to the game but gradually lost momentum, witnessing their lead fade away as the match approached its conclusion.
SD Huesca opened the dreadlock only after 12 minutes when Vilarrasa took a perfect free-kick. The goalkeeper managed to clear it, but the rebound hit a defender and found its way into the net. It was a brilliant execution for an action initiated by Gerard Valentin near the corner of the penalty area. The Azulgranas had already shown their threat with two previous attempts – the first one, a header by Kento straight into the goalkeeper's hands in the early stages of the match and the second one, a horizontal cross from Gerard Valentín to the heart of the area, which Javi Martínez let pass but found no teammate. In the 27th, threatened the Oscenses for the frist time, with a ball to the far post that Pulido cleared off for a corner. At the half-hour mark, Gerard Valentin powered a long-range shot that went narrowly wide. However, the home team pressed in the final moments before half time, beating Alvaro in extra time, although it would be disallowed due to a handball in the control. This gave Huesca an extra life, going ahead into half time.
The hosts continued to push hard after the break, but Hidalgo made a double substitution in the 67th, bringing on Kortajarena and Obeng for Hugo and Javi Martínez. However, just when it seemed that the Azulgranas were winning yards, Villarreal levelled matters, with Pascual perfectly finishing a counter-attack, finding space between the defense in the 72nd. With fifteen minutes to go, the draw didn't help either team much, and Villarreal had another chance. Finally, Elady then made his debut, just 48 hours after his signing was announced, but it did not turn out as dreamed for the forward.
