A great SD Huesca falls in the final stretch against Real Madrid

Two goals by the whites, the last one in the 85th minute, leave Huesca without points after the memorable goal by Javi Galán (1-2)

Sociedad Deportiva Huesca had a great performance against Real Madrid CF at El Alcoraz, on the 22nd day of LaLiga Santander, although it did not help to score in the points locker. After the memorable goal by Javi Galán at the beginning of the second half, Huesca forced Madrid to a close in extremis comeback five minutes from time, with two goals from Varane (1-2). Huesca fell with all the honors (and with two shots to the crossbar) able to stand up to one of the greatest of the championship and confirming that the improvement experienced in the last duels of Pacheta's team is real. With no time for regrets, the visit to Sánchez Pizjuán is approaching.

The match started evenly, and Huesca made the first three approaches of the afternoon. In the first five minutes they added a shot from Seoane that narrowly missed, a cross from Rafa Mir and a failed shot from Okazaki and a shot to the side of the net from Mir himself. The locals did not shrink before the growing push of the whites as the minutes progressed. The rain was also pressing on El Alcoraz, putting a little more epic to a match already prominent on the calendar. Despite the Madrid's dominance with the ball, it did not translate into great opportunities for them, while Huesca always had space behind the visiting rear to do damage with runs from Mir or Okazaki. Álvaro Fernández did have to intervene 10 minutes before the break, deflecting a shot from Benzema that went straight to the base of the goal's left post.

The start of the second half was dizzying: from Mikel Rico's crossbar with a subtle touch as soon as he started, it went to Javi Galán's capitalized goal in minute 48. Okazaki commanded the counterattack on the right, raised his head and looked back Galán on the front, who after a control took a direct left-footed shot to the squad, impossible for Courtois. Mir immediately launched himself with a volley to the crossbar, which prevented the second goal. In the 54th minute came the Varane's unfortunate goal. Benzema hit the crossbar with a foul and, in the rebound, the ball fell almost over the line where the French defender took advantage of it. It was not the day to surrender and SD Huesca did not. His reaction was magnificent: in the 64th minute, only a great save by Courtois prevented Mir's great header from ending in a goal. In the whirlwind of the second half the whites also brought danger. Álvaro Fernández took a shot from Benzema's with his chest, and shortly afterwards he also took out a great hand from the French in a shot in the area. Huesca suffered in the last minutes when everything was still to be decided. And, unfortunately for the locals, Varane in 85 took advantage of a rebound in the area after a set piece to put Zinedine Zidane's men ahead just at the end. Despite the result, it is impossible not to be proud of a team that never rebelled.
