The Oscenses snatch more than a vital point. Because of the status of the rival, an Eibar side who have been having a great season, because of the hard venue and because it was Antonio Hidalgo’s first game in charge of SD Huesca. The Azulgranas got a positive result thanks to a first-half own goal and a fine second half, during which they edged the rival until the 95th.
Eibar made a strong start to the game in front of their crowd, but the Oscenses won metres as the minutes went by, creating more and more danger, especially in the counterattacks. In one of them, Obeng won a corner when he was almost face-to-face with Luca Zidane. And it was after this when the Azulgranas broke the deadlock. Sielva flicked it on in the centre of the box and the ball was met by the bodies of two defenders while fighting to clear it. Nil-one to go in at the break in a seemingly commanding position.
After the interval, the story did not change much and although when SD Huesca won the ball back they seemed more poisonous than the opposition, since they were leading the clash, Joaquin was denied after he went one-on-one with Luca Zidane. The French goalkeeper managed to pull off a wonderful save to preserve the narrow momentary win. And since when you do not put the game to bed you can pay it very dearly, a clearance by Ruben Pulido after an Eibar cross from the wing found the net after 72 minutes, just when the Oscenses were at their best moment. Antonio Hidalgo reacted by renewing the Huesca attack, bringing on Hugo Vallejo and Kante to replace Joaquin and Obeng. And even though the Azulgranas needed to show fierceness off the ball to stem the Eibar’s momentum in extra time, who were pushing for a winner, they managed to edge the hosts.
