The SD Huesca reaction in front of El Alcoraz will have to wait as the Azulgranas were beaten again this Sunday, putting off the long-awaited turning point. This time it happened against an Elche side who took an early lead and defended the advantage until the end. The Oscenses fought and competed, but they lacked the accuracy the rival had displayed.
Elche's early goal after only five minutes from the start threw cold water on Antonio Hildalgo's men. The visitors found the net after a quick counter-attack at the first stages of the clash to knock the Aulgranas' morale, urged by their previous results and to dedicate a home win to their crowd. The hosts needed then to push hard, with the whole encounter yet to be played. The Azulgranas grew into the game, winning yards and proceedings, managing to leave Elche locked up in their own half, but did not find any threatening occasions. A finish from Obeng, which went wide after a counter-attack launched together with Kante was their first approach. After that came a number of crosses to the box, which did not find the goal either, leaving it nil-one at the break.
In the second 45, Kante completed a neat play inside the area, when he combined with Obeng only for a defender to clear the danger. Hidalgo brought on Hugo Vallejo after Javi Mier and Enzo Lombardo. It was then when the referee pointed to the spot, but he changed his decision after a VAR check.
Obeng finished off another counter-attack, but this one went wide once again. Tresaco and Bolívar came on, with more than ten minutes to go. The youngster forced a corner in the first ball he touched, and Loureiro was extremely close to connect it properly. The Altoaragoneses kept on piling the pressure, and Bolivar touched the bar with a shot. But the most dangerous one came after Oscar Sileva took his trademark free-kick, but the keeper produced a tremendous save to leave Huesca empty-handed.
