Antonio Hidalgo's first victory with SD Huesca came in Copa del Rey at Aguilas FC stadium. Hidalgo's side fought for the triumph in a poisonous encounter with the home crowd supporting their team until the final whistle. However, SD Huesca did what they had to in order to take the lead and edge the rival and go through the next round.
A poisonous Juanjo Nieto's cross found the Aguilas net, making it nil-one for the hosts after 25 minutes. The Azulgranas –wearing their green kit for the first time this season– proved to be clinical. Hidalgo had opted for the debutant Juan Perez in goal and after his first minutes with SD Huesca colours, he was tested by Aguilas to preserve the score until the break.
The second 45 began with a neat play by Hugo Vallejo, who failed to have a one-on-one situation when he was almost meant to. From then on, the Oscenses enjoyed a flurry of chances and were about to surprise the keeper with a couple of shots from distance. It was Juanjo Nieto in the first place, who drove the ball to the edge of the box and then powered a shot, and then Vilarrasa, who connected a rebound after a corner. The crowd in Murcia were pushing their side when Antonio Hidalgo brought on Diego Aznar and Javi Mier. After the hour mark, Oscar Sielva tried to double the advantage by means of a direct free-kick that the keeper had to turn away for a corner. Bolivar and Loureiro entered the pitch then, allowing their side to win yards with 15 minutes still to go. Nevertheless, Aguilas kept on piling the pressure, winning the ball back and trying to launch quick counter-attacks, but the Huesca defenders were fast enough to repel all possible danger until the final whistle.
