SD Huesca suffered Leganes’ accuracy, as the hosts managed to neutralise Ziganda’s side superb minutes by means of two big chances. The Azulgranas left Butarque empty-handed, with no victories in this competition so far. Wasting their final ball and with a new defence due to some absent players, the storm in the Madrilenian stadium left the Oscenses shipwrecked.
It was a ball robbed by Joaquin in rival field what spurred SD Huesca to grow in the game in the south of Madrid. After 25 minutes, Leganes and SD Huesca had shared the ball but had not tested the keepers. Shortly before the half-hour mark, Alvaro was called into action after Neyou shot from distance. Ziganda’s side were then struggling to threaten in the last third of the rival field, unable to connect with a relentless Obeng. The hosts seemed to be more and more comfortable in the clash and hence more and more dangerous. In this scenario Miramon – who did not celebrate his goal – received a cross from the by-line and put the ball past Alvaro just before the break.
Ziganda made a double half-time substitution, bringing on Hugo Vallejo and Javi Mier, who made their debut in LaLiga Hypermotion. The latter eked out the clearest chance for much of the minutes gone by until then, only 7 minutes after he had stepped in. Gerard’s wonderfully timed pass fell perfectly to his feet in front of the keeper, but he smashed the tight-angled shot into the crossbar, and Vilarrasa was really close to catch the clearance. SD Huesca steadily began to enjoy more of the possession and the presence in the field of a rival that were ahead. Ziganda sent Diego Aznar on for Diego Aznar, adding renewed pace and energy to the Huesca attack. The visitors remained dangerous on the ball under the heavy rain at Butarque through a shot from Javi Martinez that was saved by the keeper. However, far from snatching a key late point, the Altoaragoneses suffered a frustrating second goal after a counter-attack.
