Hidalgo: “It has taken a lot to get here and we are going to finish it”

SD Huesca coach speaks ahead of the crucial match at Cartagonova: “We have earned the right to depend on ourselves with all the work done so far. It is in our hands”

Two matches and three points to achieve the long-awaited goal. The Azulgranas are willing to secure their place in LaLiga Hypermotion this Sunday in Cartagena, fully aware that they will have to give their all on the pitch. Antonio Hidalgo stated this in the press conference before matchday 41. “We are travelling with the mentality of picking up the three points. We have earned the right to depend on ourselves with all the work done so far. We have chances, although the recent defeats overshadow everything, but the work has been good,” the coach stated.

Therefore, he emphasises the importance of “focusing on ourselves and understanding the type of game we are going to play. It’ll be an even and demanding clash, we’ll have to compete very well and hope that the details go our way. Also, we need to bear in mind that these are 90-minute matches, we will need to be patient and cautious, without paying attention to external factors.”

However, the coach has full confidence in his players. The team have not been in the relegation spots since January and Hidalgo appreciates the work they have done, which he hopes to culminate with securing their place in the competition. It’s in our hands, we have done a great job, the strength of our players has been evident on many occasions and we have earned this right.” And he added: “You have to focus on your own game, especially when you depend on yourself. We know that winning the match we have the goal in our hands.”

That is why he insists that “it’s time to be together, united. It has taken us a lot to get here, we don’t want to miss this and now is the time for unity. Our greatest strength is the team, the group, it’s them. And they are aware.”
